Cardinal Forest Friends preschoolers at Board of Education meeting
Cardinal Forest Friends

Students from our first nature-based preschool class “Cardinal Forest Friends” led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance at a recent Board of Education meeting. Once a week these preschoolers pack up and head to the Williams Nature Center, where they spend three full hours exploring, discovering and learning outside! Nature provides amazing, hands-on lessons that simply cannot be replicated inside a typical classroom.

In 1958, Hill Elementary was constructed. It was named for the Hill Family, whose members had a long tradition of serving on the Board of Education dating back to 1910. Before the entire Davison school district started following a balanced calendar beginning with the 2016-17 school year, Hill Elementary had followed the format since 1999, with students going to school for rotations of nine weeks, having roughly one week off, but still receiving the traditional seven-and-a-half week-long summer break and typical holidays.

Hill Elementary houses grades Kindergarten through four. In September of 2024, the U.S. Department of Education announced Hill Elementary as a national Blue Ribbon Award winner.
